Red caught our eye shortly after his birth. But a second stallion alongside Captain was unthinkable.
And then disaster struck... We resisted having offspring for a long time. It was inconceivable to us that any stallion other than Captain would ever live with us.
But Red was always present in some way. So we started to think about it. Our guilty conscience towards Captain, the impending puberty, etc. Everything was screaming NO. And yet... it just had to be.
Red comes from France and grew up on the wonderful Cow Sense ranch. As we wanted to spare him the long journey with a transport company, we decided to drive him home ourselves and brought him home safely and stress-free.
Red won us over from the very first minute. He radiates calm and serenity, which is just great. Nothing fazes him and he is absolutely easy to handle. You ask, he does. He is incredibly intelligent, but in a nice way.
His pedigree is full of successful million-dollar stallions and mares. To name just a few: Hickory Holly Time (One Time Pepto x Docs Hickory), Big Chex To Cash (Nu Chex To Cash x One Gun), Shiner Olena (Smart Chic Olena x Shining Spark), etc. And he is 11.33% related to the incomparable Mr Gun Smoke and also 90.58% related to Foundation! A real cracker!
He is also very interesting in terms of colour. He has no agouti, which means that with homozygous black mares, he can only produce black/blue roan splash foals. He himself does not carry any brown.
But now he has to grow up, prove himself in terms of character and conformation, and go through the girls' strict training. Only then will it be possible to see whether he is worth keeping as a stallion or whether he would be better off as a good gelding.
